Peaches -- I like their texture and flavor better than plums. Along with peaches, I also like their fuzzless siblings: nectarines! :)
Some folks still believe the old misconception that a nectarine is a cross between a peach & plum. NOT so at all. A nectarine is basically a genetically quirky peach, which does not have the genetic coding to produce fuzz on its skin. Hence, if you plant a peach pit, you MIGHT randomly end up with a nectarine tree (but most likely will get peaches). But if you plant a nectarine pit, you'll only end up with a nectarine tree.
Centuries ago, someone noticed "fuzzless peaches" on their tree by accident and liked it, so they started cultivating nectarines for this reason. It's similar to the idea of hairless dogs, cats, rats, etc. Some people like it, so they keep breeding the animals for this trait.
