I accidentally knocked my processor off my desk while it was in it's tray. The tray popped open and it fell on the floor and bent a maximum of 5 pins, maybe less. I haven't had the chance to test it in a motherboard yet, but I straightened the pins out. Did the drop kill the processor even though only 5 (or less) pins were slightly bent? I really hope not...

Thanks!

As everyone else has said, should still work. One note of caution: Because some pins were bent, make darn sure all the pins are in their holes before pushing the chip all the way in. You don't want to bend a pin too far off line.

Yea it's ok just as long as you didn't have Static Discharge!!!!!! But chances are slim just take your drivers license of a card of some sort and straighten those pins back out and it'll be ok just take you time and do a good job you'll be fine.

It should still work as long as the pins can fit into the socket, I have a messy workbench and this happens all the time

I agree, if the pins are straight and no static discharged when you picked it up, it should be fine. They are sturdy devices.

If it has a fan though make sure it runs when you turn it on, and make sure the heat sink is still firmly affixed to it.

The only DEFINITE way to find out would be to put it in a motherboard (where it normally goes) and see if its works.
