Unless you are attending this university because of a scholarship, I would hope that your parents would support your reasoning for wishing to be closer to home. If it's easier, tell one parent first. Maybe taking a semester off would be of help before you make a final decision.

I would talk to them about it. If you aren't feeling comfortable with the entire university experience then you will not get out of your higher education everything that you could, or should. Look into some options closer to home and go to them with a plan for your continued education, just a little closer to familiar faces and places.

If you switch, you will waste a lot of time and money ! Many college credits can not be successfully transferred to another college !
You are just feeling a little home sick. It is normal. Make new friends. Try to learn to enjoy the novelty.
