Sorry, you can not do this with just a router. Wireless routers can not be bridged to other routers. You would have to use a wireless bridge or purchase a range extender, but using the range extender would not connect it to your network.

Oh, by the way, stop stealing your neighbors wireless, it is illegal and prosecutable if they catch you.

You do not want to add a second network to a network
Two routing tables - it may work
Some places on the web may not let you in.
What you need is better reception - an antenna
First of all you need permission before accessing their network. You could get into trouble.

Here is an antenna that can be built with off the shelf components (generic zyadas usb wireless adapter not the linksys or dlink)

they use these for 3-4 km across the island in new zealand

or a cantenna- but you need special connectors and the signal loses power over a wire rapidly

Make sure that you have permission first

Your computer will show all available wireless networks. If his network shows up on your computer, you could then connect to it.

If their network does show up, I recommend asking them before trying to connect to it as some people will feel violated if you do this. Also, they may have password-protected and encrypted the network, and you would need to know the correct credentials in order to connect to it anyway.

If the network doesn't show up, either the signal isn't reaching your house or they are not broadcasting their network and don't want others to connect to it. There's nothing you can do in this case.

All you need to do is run the utility (standard on Windows 2000 and higher) to see available wireless networks in your area. Your neighbor's network will show up as availble. Select it and that is all.

Of course...this is kind of a low thing to do. You are intruding on their network and stealing some of their bandwidth.

Personally if I caught you on my network, I'd be a little ticked off...but if the person was smart enough to catch you, they'd be smart enough to secure their network.

I guess you would consider it a learning experience for everyone involved. hee,hee

Well as others have said assuming you have permission to use the network then all you would have to do to increase the signal is to buy a signal booster from some place like walmart or office depot and hook it into the network and you should be able to hook on just fine

Don't use other people's wireless bandwidth without permission, you won't like it if others do the same way to you as well..

Get a DSL/cable connection and set up your own network, it's pretty cheap and easy...

And you've asked his permission, of course, haven' t you? Because just using it is theft of services. After all, he's paying for 100% of his bandwidth, not 50%.

And another thing many people don't consider: While they're leeching off somebodyelse's network, any malware on that network has access to the leech's computer.
