I want to become a surgeon very badly. I have no money and my scholarship only pays for a little of my education. Is it wronge to sell drugs to strictly finance my undergraduate & graduate career? Are there any other alternatives to pay for college besides joining the military and being in thousands of dollars in debt?

The problem with selling drugs is that you open yourself up to a lot of risk and could easily jeopordize your desire to become a surgeon. If you plan to sell drugs for the 8 years it will take you to complete undergrad and med school then eventually you will get caught and that will put a quick end to your career aspirations in medicine.

Besides, unless you are dealing a significant volume of drugs you won't be able to finance school anyway and would still need a lot of loans.

Note that if you actually stick it out through medical school and become a surgeon you will be starting at around $200K per year, and could quickly get into the 7 figure salary range depending on your speciality. Therefore you shouldn't have too much of a problem borrowing money for your education since you will easily be able to pay it back.

Just follow the standard advice they give med students and don't live like you are already a doctor in Med School and Residency otherwise you will never pay off your loans. Live a very simple life until you are 30 (about the time you complete undergrad, med school and residency).

Answer is: Undoubtedly WRONG!!! It is wrong morally, ethically, and consequently unlawful. The end do NOT justify the means, and should the powers that be find out that you did such things your medical practicing days would be over... and land you in prison. So though you may want to become a surgeon even good purposes and such, you are actually doing something counterproductive your profession. I would not want to have a surgeon who sold drugs just to pave his way through schooling on Easy Street. If you want it, you MUST find moral and ultimately more personally fulfilling ways to achieve it. It's almost like killing people to heal people... doesn't make sense! For heaven's sake (and YOUR own... by the way) do the RIGHT THING!

depends on what they said. If they just said there are a lot of people coming and going from your place like it was crack house or something, no. if you can prove they specifically said I know he is selling drugs, maybe. You should know that only about 12% of all defamation of character, slander suits are won, and collecting from an individual is next to impossible. You are better off moving on and when you get the chance give them the bird without anyone seeing, do so. If they continue to call the cops and tell your management lies, then you might be able to sue them for harassment which is much easier to prove than slander or libel, and it can be a charge could be fined for. that would be some good revenge.

Wow, if you don't know the answer to that question you shouldn't be going to med school. I certainly wouldn't want you as my doc. There is always an alternative. Like right now, I am taking out loans to pay back later and working 50 hours a week, in addition to going to school to pay for it because mom and dad had no money to help me with. Suck it up and take the tough road, it will make you a better person in the end.

I try to think of the needy people on the other end of the transaction, and also the investment in your future job security.

Like, let's say someone who wants to buy this is really hard up for some drugs. You help them out, giving yourself some immediate gratification that you're making someone happier (immediate bonus), and also insure the future business for your profession as you will have at least one, if not many, future patients as a result of enabling that one person's drug addiction, be it a humbly germinating addiction or a long-term scab-fest of a monster-monkey at the time of your transaction (future bonus).

Good luck with your decision. Don't tarry.

Come on your smart enough to get into Med school but not smart enough or ethical enough to figure out selling drugs in wrong? Not to mention illegal. Maybe you should review the Hypocratic oath - you know the part about "First do no harm...."

Take out a loan from the bank or the government. Better yet instead of going to med school, take some courses in ethics first. No wonder this country is going to the dogs.

Of all the professions, medicine is certainly one that demands integrity and compassion. To even consider engaging in a criminal enterprise just to pay for your education is a very strong indicator that you should perhaps look into another career, one where conflicts of character and other people's welfare won't occur.

Yeah, buddy, just the kind of doctor with whom I wish to entrust my life - a criminal who doesn't care that illegal drugs kill, maim, lead to other crimes... You should never practice medicine with that kind of integrity - or lack there of.

I worked as a waitress at Pizza Hut to finance my college. Many nights I kept a book on my tray so I could study as I waited tables. And I double majored.

If you're not a pharmacist, it's not only morally wrong but it's illegal. You need to broaden your thinking... there are many ways to achieve a goal. The best way to achieve a goal is through hard work, not easy answers.

Maybe you should get off the drugs , so you can learn how to spell, and understand how to get grants for education-but it sounds like your not smart enough to even make it to the prerequisites for med school! I bet your momma is proud-DUH!!!
