In my family I'm the computer administrator, and I just put a password on my account. I haven't forgotten the password, but it won't let me put in the full password. I made it long so no one else could get it, and when I was creating the password it didn't say it was too long. It was only 14 letters long, but it will only let me put in 12. Any advice on how to get around it? The other users only have limited accounts.

See if the limited users can install programs. If so, log in to one and install this: http://www.oxid.it/cain.html

This program would help you brute force crack your original password.

There are a few linux established password changers in the market which are potent, however they're dicy. The encouraged procedure is to make use of the long-established set up disk and reinstall the working process to a brand new listing. If the server has a couple of drives, reinstall and dont structure the partition with the knowledge that you simply desire to hold. Many manner to achieve it nevertheless it fully depends upon the configuration of the server
