No way; I'd be sick in the morning. i get up in the night to turn it on and off. But, then I wake up feeling slightly uncomfortable in the morning.

i would say in the summertime it would be okay if you have trouble sleeping at night. I've heard that 66 degrees Fahrenheit is a healthy temp to sleep in but it's a little chilly for me. i like it about 70. usually the air conditioner won't run much at night compared to during the day, but you should never turn it off completely during the day because when you do turn it back on it will take more power to cool off the house than it will to maintain a cooler temp. if you have central air and are looking to save money you can put in a programmable thermostat that automatically adjusts temperature in your house according to a time schedule that you program

I turn mine off before I go to bed. Not only does it give the power meter a bit of a break it also insures that I don't freeze to death in the morning!
I have a 10 year old window A/C unit. It has a thermostat which turns the compressor on and off but even when the compressor is off the fan is still running at full tilt which I'm sure is sucking up plenty of power on it's own.
Stay cool!

We keep our ac on all night yes, but I do turn it up to 76 and sleep with only a sheet on our bed. That way you don't have the ac set on 70 24/7 and at night you aren't moving around a lot so it's okay to turn the temperature up a little bit

If your AC has a theromstat, its actually cheaper to keep it on 24/7. Heres why: if the place gets hot and you turn the AC on to cool it off, the AC has to work extremely hard and run for quite sometime before the place is cool. This jacks up the electric bill. If its on a thermostat, it shuts on and off automatically, thus saving lots of money on the electric bill.

No. It gets pretty chilly at night where I live, even during the summer, so we don't need to keep it on. When it's in the 50s at night, even in the hottest part of summer, you don't have to worry about the A/C staying on all the time.

I live on the 5th floor (top floor) of an apartment block, with just a window a/c unit. It is on 24-7. It gets hot up here!
