That was not WWII. That war in which the USA supported Bin Laden was the occupation of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union in the 1980s. The CIA gave him large amounts of money and arms to set up Al Qaeda and Ronald Reagan authorised the supply of 1,000 Stinger surface to air missiles to shoot down Soviet aircraft. Only half of these were used and the terrorists still have plenty but they are so old now that they are only suitable for shooting down civilian aircraft as they tried in Kenya a few years ago.
After Al Qaeda defeated the Russians in Afghanistan, Bin Laden was dumped by the USA and this was one reason for him becoming anti-American.

that wasnt world war II. during WWII, US and Soviet were allies. only right after the war, they became enemies. that was during the cold war when US supported Afgha to fight against USSR (Soviet Union). basically US was fighting against Soviet's spread of communism. at that time, Bin Laden was just a young man, like many others, were fighting against the invasion of Soviet. and there was no terrorism idealogy at the time. only Capitalism Vs. Communism. and Bin Laden and many others were soldiers fighting against an invasion, for their country.

I think it is just United States being ego that it has so much power. Yes, we did work with Afghanistan during cold war. But whatever he is doing, is for his country. If United States pulls of troops from Afghan. we have pretty good chances of solving this problem and give jobs to people starving in MOBILE HOME and on street in US.
