Am I completely missing something, but whats with this trend? Some call it "preppy" but its far from it...can anyone help me and explain why looking like a vampire who lives on the streets is "cool" now??? I appreciate it. Thanks.

...while the correct preppy dress is a pair of slacks - ironed, of course - straight legged, a white undershirt and either a light colored polo or sweater/vest.

No idea. It is a very odd trend that I hope turns uncool very soon because this has been going on long enough. I mean, they pay all this money for jeans that are ripped.? What the heck is up with that?

only the shirt worn with a popped up color is preppy in the outfit you describe. No self respecting preppy would ever be caught dead in ripped jeans.
and frankly the outfit you suggest is not really any sort of style, except maybe sloppy at best.

I'm not so sure, but i think it looks alright. I hate it when guys wear their pants so LOW! They wear them like below their butts. That looks really ridiculous. Ripped jeans are cool looking. As long as they are not like so ripped that you are able to see all of your legs and stuff. Popped collars look kind of cool. Some ppl look ok with them but i personally wouldnt do it.

ur taking it negativly. ripped jeans style are IN style since like i was born (1993). popped collars are just cool cus ppl get tired of the same style so they like try something new. so wen they get tired of that popped collar style, theyll probly put it back down. fashion is recycled . and the fads become the trend. for ex: tight jean (w/ no bellbottom) are getting popular again. also the big sunglasses are coming back

yea, it is preppy. preps have started to try to blend in, by popping their collars of their nice buttond donw shirts and buying ripped jeans to have that laid-bakc beach look...totally bogus thou, i wouldnt follow the trend

I seriously dont know.
Whenever i see someoen wearing one of those shirts with the ridiculouse popped collars, i feel very inclinded to go over to them and put their coller down! (most of the time i do)
It just so stupid.
i cant understand that weird 'pop the tounge of your sneaker' trend thats been going around too.

God I thought it was just me.... Let me say sorry for my 16 year old walking out the house like that everyday... I have to bite my lip..... I asked my son..... he say's it the style! and EVERYONE DOES IT!
