neither, i don't like people showing up without an invitation! other than that, i won't answer the door!

usually its already clean, but it depends on whos coming over. We foster animals for a rescue group, and lots of the older ladies that r in it are really nice, but they are very WASPish and look like both themselves and their homes just morphed out of a page of "Ladies Home Journal" or "Better Homes and Gardens" so if one of them is coming over to pick up a foster that has been adopted, drop off a new foster, drop off / pick up paperwork, etc. I usually do a quick hide n shuffle straighten up. We have a 3 yr old son , a Rott and a Beagle/Husky mix that r in the house except for a few hours a day when they play outside and 4 housecats and a foster cat, so our house is always cluttered with both pet and kid toys.

Sometimes hurry and clean other times nothing everything is clean. Depends on the kind of week I had.

I only hurry and clean my boys bathroom. I clean it daily, but toddler boys can wreck a bathroom in minutes. I'd prefer to clean that bathroom AGAIN before anyone comes over.

Sometimes I invite people over for BBQ or whatever, so I can boot myself in the **** and give everything a good cleaning, otherwise the dust bunnies would take over completely.

I might pick up a few things but for the most part its tidy enough. I don't live like a total slob. But I am not going to be a slave to my dust bunnies.
