been trying to figure it out and I'm lost??Any ideas???

no, if you have a bad waterpump you will not get water in your oil like you would with a blown head gasket, you will just lose water and run hot. If the waterpump is bad you should see water dripping out of the weep hole at the bottom of the water pump.

I'm not sure what signs you are referring to.

The only sign I can think of that would coincide with those two problems is loss of coolant.

Typically, a faulty water pump is noisy or it visibly leaks. Head gasket symptoms can vary depending on where it's blown (i.e. near an oil or coolant passage or between cylinders, etc).

A faulty water pump will do 2 things.

1. Leak from the seal

2. Not circulate the water correctly.

If you had a blown head gasket, the coolant resevior will bubble when the engine is cold, or hot.

A bad water pump will boil the water when the engine gets too hot.

It can. If you have a overheating problem it can be a water pump but if you have coolant leaking out the overflow most likely you have a head gasket i would need to know more about your problem to help you further.
