Yes, in some genetic disorders people have extra chromosomes. If you have Down's syndrome, you have an extra chromosome # 21, so you have 47 total. If you have Klinefelter's syndrome you have an extra X chromosome, so 47 total. If you had both Down's syndrome and Klinefelter's, for example, you would have 48. Also,some individuals with Klinefelter's have 3 X chromosomes and one Y, giving them 48 total. This is extremely rare, however.

Yes. In fact it is possible for them to have 47 chromosomes as well. Down's Syndrome suffers, for example, have three copies of chromosome 21. Another fairly common disorder is Patau Syndrome, or Trisomy 13. There are others with two X and one Y chromosome as well. So someone suffering from two of these or similar disorders would have 48 chromosomes. However, it is unlikely that that person would live long.

Yes, it is possible, but rare. Multiples of the X chromosome occur, without causing any disorders in females, but causing Kleinfelter syndrome in males. There can be 2 or 3 extra X chromosomes, resulting in 47,48 or 49 chromosomes etc. In females they are just deactivated (lionisation), leaving only one X active, as in normal 46 chromosome females.

yes it can happen as it's a genetic disorder named down syndrome. human without disorder have 46 chromosome in this disorder parent has 21st extra chromosome ,passed to progeny if one parent has this disorder then the progeny has 47 chromosome but if other parent has this disorder too then progeny got 48 chromosomes.

Yes, I think so. Down's syndrome people have an extra copy of one of the chromosomes, and there are a few people (who usually turn out to be criminals) with an XYY configuration, so if you could find someone with both conditions, there's the 48.

No, it's not possible. All body cells except for sex cells, have 46 chromosomes. Sex cells have 23 chromosomes.

yep...but they have genetic disorders...
i think down syndrome is one of them.

no it is not plain and simple no there is apossibility where there are missing cromoznes and an extra one with an extra 18 cromozne i think u get down syndrem witch people commnly call *excuse my language* retarded
