This person I know is 40 years older than me, a relative, and does not fully appreciate the amount of housework we do. He complains constantly and becomes angry when I tell him the truth. He is a ffff'n idiot. Get your lazyyyy assss off that couch and start doing some laundry, cooking, washing the floors, vacuuming, providing emotional support for the kids. This guy thinks he doesn't have control over his life events. I'm not in his shoes to understand what made him the way he is now, but he can change!!!!! I don't want to be anything like him, but they tell me that I am. I act like him without realizing it.

I LOve him. I would never do that to a person I love. I need some emotionally intelligent questions here.

medication is for the WEAK. It's a quick fix. His medication was time and relaxation and he has had plenty of that. NO Excuses!!!

You can't change a person.
It's that simple.

I know fully what you are saying, The more you despise someone the more you become them ! Sometimes we see ourselves in some people and that is why we dislike them and sometimes we dislike something in a person that we become them. Just think, if this person was you, how would you want someone to tell you ? If you can change yourself then you can change the way you see that person. and that is the key.

You can't change anyone. Change has to come from within the person themselves. Unless they understand why this behavior is destructive, they won't change. Sad, but true.

Changing is easier said than done. He's probably been like this his whole life and really doesn't know how to change.

Well you are complaining about someone who complains...so...

Anyway, you can't change someone else, you can only choose to interpret the experience differently or get away from him entirely.

he may not be able to help it. he may need medical help as in medication. don't fall into the rut of someone telling you that your like him, be who you are and stand tall in the decision to be so.
