What happened to 'We the People'? Aren't we the government? Are we responsible for all that this Administration has done, if only because we didn't protest loudly enough?

We sit back a lot and complain.

Beyond that a lot of people are unaware of how much the public has set the stage for what is going on in politics. For example, a recent Siena College survey in NYS showed that the majority of NYers are not in favor of giving members of the NYS legislature a raise. They have not received a raise since 1999 and we know how much the cost of living has increased. By not giving such a raise, they have essentially ensured that only the rich can be politicians.

It use to be a Government by the People for the People but those days are gone forever. Now it's a Government by the Corporations and Special Interests, for the Corporations and Special Interests. Now that Corporations and Special Interests play such a big part in contributions to political campaigns, the people are left on the back burner. Try to see the movie, "Roller Ball", the first version with James Cahn. It will remind you of what goes on today. The people can protest all they want and nothing will change.

One reason is because socialists have managed to dumb down the educational system in America's public schools. They teach almost nothing about American History or Civics anymore. I am amazed whenever I talk to young people who have just graduated high school, even honor students rarely understand how our government works.

Socialists have done this quite purposefully. Our founders are on record as saying that liberty is only possible with a strongly moral and well educated population.

On the other hand, socialism is only possible with a non-religious, morally relative and ignorant population. Which way does it seem we are heading?

Some people will not take responsibility. Always blaming someone else. Most Brits won't take responsibility for their part in Iraq. I hate seeing Americans having the same uncultured character.

It should read "We the Corporations..."

Yes, I agree the citizens of any nation are responsible for the actions of its government.

The best thing we can do at this point is push for election reform to guarantee that all votes are counted.

The government is so detatched from the people it's not even funny. By the way, don't you find it odd that the incumbency rate in the house is over 90% even though the approval rating of congress (regardless of the national situation) tends to hover in the 30's?

This country has long rid itself of democracy, and any concept of "we the people."
