Wow! Morons to the left of me, robots to the right of me!

Does anyone get it? The Patriot Act had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CASE!!!! This case used traditional means of investigation, which is typically how these rings are busted anyway. The Patriot Act gives government the authority to do search and seizure without any cause. It gets into your financial records, your religious beliefs, your reading habits, and virtually every other aspect of your private life. Aside from the fact that this violates the Bill of Rights (I know, George Washington was a lefty, pinko commie, right?), it also goes against everything this nation is about.

Oh, and you morons on the left, the Patriot Act has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH OIL, or rich people or Wal-Mart or anything else that you hate. It is a completely separate issue. Can't you keep your party line straight? Sheesh!

The PATRIOT Act did no longer avert as many terrorist assaults because of the fact the more suitable interrogation concepts (water-boarding) did, besides the shown fact that it additionally did no longer placed harmless U.S. voters in detention center the two.

No.

This act didn't even help put the 'police' get their act together. The FBI, CIA, State and City authorities are still trying to play top dog games.

It did make it easier for 'Big Brother' to arrest, wire tap, intercept phone and email communication and banking information of people all over the world.

The bad part is that it was approved again, with just a few changes to protect individuals. There are still people being held at Gitmo unknown and unprosecuted.

NO

George Bush exists to advance the interests of the rich and the elite. Early in his reign, the events of 9/11 shattered the security of many Americans. Seizing upon this opportunity, which they may have actually master-minded and perpetrated (http://www.newtopiamagazine.net/articles/47), Bush and his henchmen employed this powerful tool to manipulate many Americans. Preying upon America's deep sense of fear, Karl Rove, the Minister of Truth and a man who could take Joseph Goebbels to school, forged the image of George Bush as God's chosen savior to America and to the "free world". He nurtured the notion that America was under constant threat of attack by a murky enemy called Terrorism. Such an abstract enemy enabled Bush and Rove to keep the American people in a perpetual state of war and insecurity. The new paradigm of the "good" US against the "evil" Terrorists, laid the foundation for Bush's long coveted invasion of Iraq. As the administration rushed the Patriot Act through Congress, few Congressmen had time to even read the legislation before rubber-stamping it for fear of being branded "unpatriotic" by John Ashcroft, America's newly anointed Minister of Love.

They couldn't stop a lawyer with TB, even though the agent had a computer screen in front of him saying "DETAIN THIS INDIVIDUAL IMMEDIATELY. USE EXTREAM CAUTION, GLOVES AND FACE MASK SHOULD BE USED ........."
And what did he do? He promptly LET HIM GO.
So did the patriot act stop today's terrorist [the ones that wanted to blow up JFK airport I assume]. I doubt it!

No, the Bush Administration lied about a foiled terrorist attack on a building that wasn't even built at the supposed time of the attack.

No, the Patriot Act was only a way for the Government to intertwine themselves in our lives more and more. To be able to prod in our lives more and more, and keep a fear over our head.
