In book 3, when the portrait of The Fat Lady was taken down, she was replaced by Sir Cadogan. (The Fat Lady guards Griffindor's tower, and was taken down because Sirius Black sliced her up.) Anyway...Sir Cadogan was as mad as a hatter, and he kept changing the passwords. In order to remember them all, Neville wrote them on a slip of paper, which Crookshanks stole and then gave to Sirius. Sirius used the passwords to get past Sir Cadogan, and got into the tower. McGonagal was severely ticked, and banned Neville from any further trips. She also said he wasn't allowed to know the passwords, he had to get someone else to let him in.

Neville was banned from Hogsmeade visits in PoA after he left a paper listing passwords into the Gryffindor common room and dorms, used then by Sirius Black to gain entrance.

I believe because he accidentally let Sirius Black into the Gryffindor common room. Because Neville couldn't remember the password to enter, he wrote it down on a piece of paper, which Sirius got a hold of and used it to gain entry to the common room, causing mass panic. Obviously, the teachers weren't happy and banned Neville from visiting Hogsmeade as punishment.

Neville Longbottom is very forgetful and the new portrait, Sir Cadogan who replaced the fat lady kept changing the passwords, so Nevelle made Cadogan tell him the whole weeks passwords and he wrote them down. Sirius Black got ahold of the note with the passwords and used them to enter the Griffendor common room. Incidentally it actually wasn't Neville's fault because Hermione's cat Crookshanks stole them from his bedside table.

i do no longer think of Neville dies. i think of he beats Bellatrix Lustrange of their conflict because of the fact all of us comprehend it is going to take place. Neville could desire to get his revenge for his mum and dad. he has been getting lots extra powerful along with his magic and that i think of this is by technique of the fact he has extra self belief in himself. additionally, this is no longer that the prophecy has no longer something to do with Neville because of the fact it does only no longer like it could have. the prophecy reported that Voldemort will mark him as his equivalent. he could have marked Neville yet he did no longer, he marked Harry, the only that is maximum like him. there quite isn't a clarification for Neville to die. he has grown lots as a character that it may be cruel to kill him off. i think of we can locate out that he's lots smarter than we make him out to be... :)
