I think breaking wind is more accebtable because this world is full of people who judge....... but..... if you break wind it's only a couple of seconds of torture, but breaking with tradition could have people harping on you for long ammounts of time!

It depends how big a tradition it is. If it is just a little tradition you're breaking away from (eg not bothering with something old, new, borrowed & blue at your wedding) it would bother people a lot less than if you were to break wind in public. But probably breaking wind is more accepted. Not that its a good thing to do in the company of others--its just that so many people do it (esp. teenage boys) that it is becoming more accepted. It is natural after all.

That's a tough one. More people seem to be doing things now that break with tradition, however I guess it would depend on your background and how deeply rooted the tradition is. And in many circles anymore, no one even seems to bat an eye if someone breaks wind, so I guess I'll have to go with that response. My, how far weve come. . .

I may be a little biased to this question since I was born and raised in the 'burbs, but I would have to say that breaking wind is far more acceptable than breaking tradition.
