Why would you use a tampon if you're not on your period? I was scared to try tampons at first, but once you get the hang of it....tampons will make your life so much easier. Just relax and follow the instructions that come with the box. I suggest trying a Junior or slim sized tampon to practice with. I also suggest using the Tampax Pearl variety size box. Once you get the hang of using the juniors, switching to the regular and super sizes will be a piece of cake. It may feel weird at first, but you will definately apprectiate not having to wear a bulky pad....especially in the summer. Good luck and just remember....all of us girls have been there!!

Some people are never comfortable using tampons and some people would never dream of using pads its all up to preference.
When trying a tampon for the first time get a slim mini and relax - gently insert following instructions in the packet if it doesn't work the first time give it a rest and try another time.
I can not use tampons alot of the time as I have extremely light periods.

Don't use tampons to absorb anything other than your menstrual flow. Only insert a tampon once menstrual blood is present. You shouldn't insert a tampon unless you are on your period. Please check out this website and if you have any questions ask your mom or the school nurse. Take care sweety.

Most girls of 13 can safely use a tampon. Buy the ones that say Slim. You may have to waste a few learning how to put them in. You will know you have it in correctly when you can't feel it. If you can feel it, it is not in right. Waste a few trying, its way better and cleaner than pads.

Never use a tampon when you're not on your period. You could get TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) which is a horrible baterial infection. Also, it hurts to pull out a dry tampon.

Why do you want to put in a tampon when you aren't on your period? Would it be that you haven't tried tampons yet and want to get used to it?

You can try to put it in while not on your period but I would not keep it in there for long.

Just wait till your period and try it. Buy the slenderest tampon if its your first time.
