Yes, I do. I always wonder what makes someone want to connect with me.

No, but I also don't add people unless I have known them for a long enough period of time that my judgment tells me they are someone I want to have as a friend.

There are way too many lunitics out in the cyber world to trust blindly. Anyone can say anything they want on a profile, some even copy other people's to make themselves look better.

I trust my gut instinct and have only been burned a few times from people I thought were good people that turned out to be back stabbers.

Always read their questions, answers. read their profile, if they have a 360 blog, that too, friends on that blog, etc.

This way you are sure you get a good contact.
If you feel this person is someone you like to get
to know better and would really enjoy their friendship, you can invite them to be a friend on your own 360 page.

I have found some wonderful friends this way.

Yes I do, unless I see some of their questions that I like then I'll add them without looking at their profile.

It's funny. I don't add someone until I've got a pretty decent sense of familiarity with them. Then I see people adding me on their first day here.

Yes. For me, the key is whether the prospective contact allows either e-mail or IM. If he/she doesn't, then I don't reciprocate their interest in being a contact. I haven't applied to be anyone's contact as I really don't see any benefit to it, theirs or mine.

I look at their profile to see what kinds of questions they've asked and answers they've provided. I don't want to see lots of spam-type emails under that list of what was asked by my contacts...

If they have been on my fan list I add them out of courtesy and look at their profile later.
