I put medications in my fish tank against fin rot. On the medication it said that the color of the water would change but if you replace carbon it will go back to its original color. So i changed the carbon but the color is still there. why did it stay and what can i do to take it out?

How long had the carbon been in the filter before you removed it? Did you put back the previous carbon or did you replace it with new carbon? Carbon will adsorb medications and dyes from the water, but it can only get so much before it needs to be replaced. If you used carbon that had been in the tank for a while, I'd try replacing it with new and see if that helps.

This is saying that your fish are no longer sick, you are supposed do a 25% water change after you medicate. Sometimes a bigger change is necessary. But for now, try doing a slight water change and clean ur filter well.

it does take a while for the water to clear, a teacher at school gave the fish medication and the water was blue for about two weeks and the teachers said they didnt give any more medication

is the pump turned on? you might have to replace the cottony stuff too. give the carbon a chance to work.

it's possible that the colour is still the same because all the water hasn't fully passed through the filter.
