how do you know what kacket size you are? like 38 regular or 40 short? what does that mean?

i wanted to but a jacket online and i dont know what size i am..it says the smallest available is 38 regular and the biggest they have is 40 short...is that in inches? like how many inches from shoulder to shoulder? or what does it mean...im slim so id usually be a small or S in jackets...are those too big for me? how would i know what size i am?

Go to a mens store to be properly measured. It is well worth it. Then write the information on a card in your wallet, so you will have it.
