Now, also, remember that only Drew Stanton and Calvin Johnson were the only 2 offensive players drafted this year, the rest were all defense which means 6 out of 8 rookies were on the defense side of the ball. Saying that they should have drafted defense is not a legit arguement for this, even pro sports writers agree on that note.

Well the Lions should be better than last year. To what extent though is yet to be seen. After a year in Mike Martz's offensive scheme the O should be better. With the introduction of Calvin Johnson, the Lions will have one of the best WR tandems in the league. Beyond Johnson and Roy Williams, Mike Furrey is dangerous in the slot. The additions of Tatum Bell and TJ Duckett should help the running game. The Lions need to hope that 2nd yr coach Rod Marinelli has bolstered the Defense. The Lions while not being top tier material yet, have come a long way. With the proper attitude they could be one of the surprise teams in 2007.

There are too many things wrong with the Lions to do much more than their 3-13 record from last year. Lets start with the schedule. They play the NFC East and the AFC West this year. Those are two very tough divisions where I think the Lions can lose all of those games (even to the Raiders who boasted the #3 D last year.) I think their offense will be explosive but with Mike Martz calling plays, the talent of Kevin Jones will never be fully utilized because Martz throws 80% of the time. If the defense knows you are going to throw the whole game than you are already at a disadvantage. Their O-line is average at best but I don't even think they are that good. Their defense is the biggest weakness that they face. They have some young talent that might progress into some pretty good players, but as a whole they are a pitiful unit. And with the loss of their best cover corner in Dre Bly, they are hurting even more. I honestly don't see this team winning more than 4 games this year. I think the biggest bright spot on the team is that Calvin Johnson will win rookie of the year. If you give him the 98 catches that Mike Furrey caught last year, WOW!! And with that defense and Mike Martz, they are going to throw the ball a lot.

I think that the Lions obviously have some talent, especiallt with the addition of Calvin Johnson, but I just can't see them picking outside of the top ten next year.
Defensively, they have no real playmakers outside of Ernie Sims. No one knows how Shaun Rodgers will perform coming off an injury-plauged season, and if he will return to his 2005 form. Also Cory Redding is a question mark moving inside to DT full time. The DE spots, which are so crucial in the cover 2 defense, are also question marks and they hope that Francis can be a solid pass rusher (which he is not projected to be) And in the secondary, there is little talent at corner, and Kenoy Kennedy has not panned out and they look to Gerald Alexander to be a playmaker.
On offense, the offensive line needs to perform better than last year, when they gave up 63 sacks-- 2nd worst in the league only to Oakland. They also hope that TJ Duckett and Tatum Bell can carry the load running the ball until (if) Kevin Jones comes back. Everyone knows that they are loaded at wideout and Kitna has proved that he can put up the passing stats, and the passing game is one of the lone bright spots on this team.
Final prediction: 6-10

They won't be much better than last year. Simply said they have to many hand me down players from other teams. Kitna is a good example. He's not a bad player just not good enough to hold onto the starting job in Seattle, or Cincinnati. Drafting a wr in the top spot bothers me because a wr will only touch the ball 5 times a game out of 60 offensive plays. The best teams do well drafting and bring along young players turning them into stars. I don't see Detroit doing that. If there coaching staff sticks around long enough to develop the late round picks then maybe in the future Detroit will improve.

I think they can go at least 9-7. They have a great team as long as they stay healthy. I have been a Lions fan since I have been born. Yes these past couple of years have been rough. But, I always have confidence in them. The 3 WR set should help them this season. All eyes are on Calvin Johnson. However Roy Williams will prevail to be the best wideout in the NFL. Let's look at the facts, He lead all NFC receivers in yardage. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up leading the NFL in yardage this season. They also have a dynamic runningback group. I believe Kevin Jones will show what he can do. Since he has entered the league he has gotten better year after year. With Shaun Rogers, Boss Bailey, and Teddy Lehman coming back off of injuries, their defense will be a force.

the main they have had in a known season is 12 in 1991. on the time, the Lions had Andre Ware and Rodney Peete at QB, with Barry Sanders at RB. That replaced into somewhat the final group that had skills in Detroit. Ever on account that, they have been no longer something yet mediocre. they won't win a activity this season. they won't beat New Orleans Sunday or eco-friendly Bay right here week.

The Lions will be a surpise this year. Jon Kitna is not a franchise QB but has the skills enough to efficiently run Martz offense. Kitna is accurate enough and patient enough not to mention that he has experience in the NFL in multiple schemes. I don't expect Calvin Johnson to be a Pro Bowler but will create enough distraction for Williams to get more receptions and he will make plenty of plays for himself. They also have plenty of help in the backfield with Bell, Duckett and Jones. Offensively you look good, not great but good. Defense looks good as well, not great. On the whole I would say that with any luck, they will finish 8 - 8.

I am a huge Lions fan and I have been paying close attention to them after they got Calvin Because I seriously think they will have the most dynamic offense in the NFC this year. With the addition of Tatum bell and Calvin Johnson I dont think anybody can stop them.
ps: dont listen to anti Lions fans thay just go by they think the Lions stink and their teams rool

im interested to see mike martz 's offence in its second year, i feel that he hs better recievers(jonhson, furrey, williams) here than he did in st louis and the running back they have, have the possibilty to be exciting (jones, ducket, bell) and for the 1st time in alone time the qb spot does not worry me, kitna is a solid qb, orlovsky has talent, and stanton has the potential to be a star in the league if he can handle the pressure, the offence should be excellent if the line can hold up, on deffence i believe the strongest position is linebacker, it is a very talent laden position for the lions the safeties should do alright this year to im worried about the corners and d-line, but they could be surprising.
that being said i think the lions should finish atleast 8-8 maybe better, i kno i should hopeful but i think this may be the year they finally do something real in the league

The Lions have talent, but they are very young. Their quarterback situation also concerns me. The other problem is the atmosphere of losing. It is unfortunate, but take solace in this fact: after this 6 - 11 season, the Millen nightmare will be over!!!
