They use all kinds of passive aggressive tactics to keep you off balance and unsure of yourself.

I work for someone controlling,but she doesn't control me just everyone else that works there. Something she does often is, if you have an idea about something and she doesn't like it, she'll blow it off and then later she'll have the same idea but make it look like it was hers. This burns me to no end.
I'll give you an example. I work in a full service salon. I am the head stylist there. When clients buy hair products they usually buy more than one. I suggested that we have a discount on mutiple purchases 3 or over. She blew the idea off. Then just a few weeks ago she asked about clients buying more than one product. Then she says "maybe we should have a discount when they buy 3 or more." I looked at my other stylist and walked out of the room. I knew I'd say something I might regret.

Order for you in a restaurant, tell you who you can talk to, who you can hang out with, When you can go out, not talk to your friends, Wont let you have friends outside of theirs, tells you what to wear...etc Guess it depends on the controlling person as to how far they will go.

not let you out of house w/o them, tell you what to wear, tell you who you can talk to, tell you when to have sex, tell you how to live a lfe that you have been able to live long before they came along. alot of people are like this without knowing it. some you can talk to and they will change a little, but it is hard to change a life's worth of personality overnight. let them know that you do not need a parent but you need a companion...

They may hint at things that they want, and make you feel bad if you don't do it. They will turn everything around on you. It will seem like they are being very selfish.
