We have a baby daughter who knows her alphabet, counts up to five (skips a few trying to go higher), is starting to read words (without the pictures) and has a vocabulary that is huge and growing. She speaks in two or three word sentences, can lift herself up by her arms (not quite a pull-up) and hang on things quite comfortably, as well as climb quite well up ladders and other objects (she's quite strong).

She's eighteen months old.

We are looking for groups interested in helping a child like this reach their potential. Anyone out there? Are there such groups? Or are we wasting our time and should just continue what we're doing?

Did I say we're looking for money? How dare I ask if there is someone who can help our daughter, is that it? Goodness sake but some people project a lot!

Kudos McKenzie! I did a lot of checking on the net when my dd was reading (books) at two. You can check out different 'gifted children' forums but most I looked at all were geared toward older children. My Emily was in the accelerated readers program in Kindergarten this year and will have a teacher experienced with gifted and talented children. You should check with the teachers and preschool teachers in your district (maybe talk with the counselor/school psychologist in the elementary school where you teach).

Keep working with her--it's so exciting to see them reading and doing math so young. Your daughter has the advantage of having a 'pro' help her.

ask at your local health clinic-they have tests to see if she is above average intelligence-and if she needs more schooling-- by the way-children in Spain start pre school at age one- so they are really bright-its good to start learning early in life.good luck.x
