The town I reside in has no other businesses like it and in bigger cities it is a popular trend. The local population is around 100,000 and I've read that mobile car washes can take 15% of a regular car washes business.

Definitely. You'll want to do detailing too though, as people usually want more than just a wash.

I used to own an auto detailing business, so I've been there.

Educate yourself on how to properly (without causing scratching, marring or swirl marks) wash, dry, claybar, polish, wax, glaze, seal, dress tires, clean engine bays, wheels, etc.

Do interiors too of course. Vacuum (shampoo if needed), clean seats / dash / doors, etc., clean glass, dress the interior nicely, all of that.

Don't forget details like the trunk.

You might check out autopia.org, it's a forum of auto detailers and they have a pro. detailer section. Could be helpful.

Good luck!

When starting a business, you should ask a few questions: 1) Will it work at my location? 2) Who am I trying to reach? 3) Will it generate enough money to cover the expenses? If your ina dry, dirty location and can reach business owners, car lots, and VP's & CEO's, then yes, you'll do ok even in a recession. However, if your somewhere like a small town (or large town with constant traffic [NYC, ATL, etc]), then no! You won't even make enough to cover your expenses.

You should research things like, portable water tank, water pump and/or pressure washer, generator, vacuum, trailer to haul everything, supplies for detailing if you will be doing that, and advertising.

Sounds like a good idea, but would really research it.
