Clearly most conservatives hate Hillary, basically because her name is Clinton. For whatever the reason, they seem to be rooting against her. However, recent polls have shown that head-to-head, Edwards has by far the biggest lead over the Republican candidates and Obama has a fairly significant lead, but Hillary only leads even Thompson and Romney by 3% (Edwards leads them by over 20%).

On the one hand, the Republican candidates have the best chance to beat her. On the other hand, if Hillary wins the Dem nomination, there's a good chance she'll become the next US president. So my question is, should Republicans be rooting for Hillary?

I think earlier, like two years ago, most of my Republican friends WERE rooting for her to win the nomination. Since then, George and the Bush league have pulled our Republican party so far into the ditch that we're all a little worried that no one can pull us out. In other words, the fear is there that the next president will be a Democrat, no matter what we do.

So, now, with the potential of her actually becoming president, they're a little less excited about her getting the nomination.

I've seen many Republicans who think that if Hillary runs they have got the White House locked up. I think they're dreaming. When the nominations are set all these stats go right out the window. The fact is that the great majority of Democrats who don't want Hillary are going to end up voting for her anyway over any Republican. If the war is still raging, which it likely will be, any Republican running is going to be hard pressed to take a position other than withdrawal and win the election. That is the only thing that might even out the field for Republicans. If, by chance or design, the Dems run a Clinton/Obama ticket then the Republicans are almost guaranteed a loss. That's the Dream Team right there, and I'm sure the Dem powers that be are well aware of it. So much time, and so much will still happen until we get a really clear picture though.

Just as a side note, the margin that one year ago said they would never vote for Hillary no matter what has shrunk by almost 10 points.

I am a Republican.
I am rooting for her to get the nomination.
I will still be voting for the Republican (unless its McCain) and I definitely do not like Hillary, but Hillary is the only one of the Democrats that should be allowed to be President. The rest are inexperienced, and unprepared for what awaits them. If we must have a Democrat as our President then I would choose her from the current Dem choices.

If Republicans simply want to win however they should root for Obama....he is by far the easiest to defeat (not currently in the polls but he will easily be ripped to shreds...with material I am sure they already have...in the general election...the wind in his sails is already fading).

I think people should just vote for the best candidate.

Just because you are republican, doesn't mean you have to vote 100% that way.

If you are pro-life and a republican....well, look at Gulianni, he is repub, but pro-choice!

Vote for who you think the best candidate will be regardless of their party.

Who do you work for? Murdock? The government?
Dr. Ron Paul clearly won the debates and is the only candidate that has a chance of defeating the Murdock funded globalist Hillary! Why do you leave him out like he doesn’t exist? He is the only one speaking the truth and the only one with a 100% constitutional voting record!

Because we conservatives actually DO want what is best for this country it is hard for us to "root" for someone who would tear this country apart. Even if we are "pretty sure" we could beat her in the National Election. There are many of us who can't even stomach the thought of her in the White House.

I have news for you. We hate Hillary because she is Hillary. No we should not, and Edwards doesn't have as much of a following as you would like to believe.

Not on a bet and not because her name is Clinton. With her and Nancy Pelosi running the country, we would be in big trouble.
