I think that generally speaking, if people are spewing serious hate-filled bile (racism, misogyny, etc) as part of their rhetoric, they tend to get short shrift from more open-minded people who can't be bothered with such prejudices. However there are also others who agree with their sentiments. I'd say that whether they gain or lose support depends on their level of extremism, the current political situation, and everyones individual opinion based on experience.

Personally, I try to avoid commenting on ''hateful'' ranting questions, as I think a lot of the time these people are just trying to stir up trouble. Others obviously just have their own opinions and while we may disagree, I guess it just goes to show that we're all different, and have different views of what is 'right' and what isn't.

I don't look at anyone who posts hateful political rhetoric as a friend. But people who are hateful themselves might like it if they are in the same party or persuasion. I guess they don't realize that it has such a negative effect on a lot of people.

I think you and I are together on most of these posts. I lean towards them making enemies cause I for one hate liars and Yahoo seems to attract them by the score. And you get a star for this question.

I am sure anyone who disagrees with you you put in the hateful category.

Having an opinion per say is not hateful! I thought that was why we are here?

I do tend to get tired of the neocons, who are really fascists who are destroying their party, and people who hate everyone. They hate Mexicans, they claim every Democrat is a liberal and use the term interchangeably (as if they are all commies or something), they want everyone to speak English (German lost by one vote of being the US official language a century ago as most people didn't speak English)and they want to remove every-ones culture from them, making them clones of who they are.

Well, most people are smarter than that, and most people are more educated than they are. They have no rational arguments so they spew their hatred and then go turn on Fox News for a fix!

Both. Everyone has a different opinion. If someone is already leaning toward the statement, then they gain a friend, if someone disagrees then of course, an enemy.

I don't care either way I am only interested in the truth. Hate me or love me it is your choice and I don't do or say anything to influence a person's decision about me.

Probably both. I think it depends on the person. Some take this site as a simple form of entertainment, others take it wayyyyyyyyy too serious..

Sure. I've read a lot of rhetoric and if those on one side agree, they tend to form bonds (politically).
