Caucasian and whites have an advantage in life?

In my Sociology class we were talkin about races and stuff and my professor said that Caucasian people have a distinct advantage in every aspect of their life in the United States. She is a Caucasian herself and she said "Especially in the dating world and the nightlife"

I couldn't comprehend what she meaant

Most of my classmates seemed to agree (about 23 outta 30 of us thru a show of hands by her statement)

IS that somewhat true? How??

nah, i don't agree. caucasians have cushier lives and are generally more naive and dependent on others. socially, yes they do have more advantage because they won't be descriminated. if you're talking about the US in particular, well, let's just face it, americans are prejudice (not all) but consider an all american caucasian and an all american ethnic minority person. who will get the nice job? why of course the caucasian. however, i'm willing to bet the all american ethnic minority person is most of the time likely to be more educated or have a better personality.

who knows. maybe i'm wrong but this is what they meant in your sociology class. politics, baby. humans are bitches and then we all die. that's the world. gotta fight back the caucasians and be better than them at everything, innit?

White people walk through their lives most of the time with their race not being an issue. They don't have to walk through life wondering if rejections and bad things in their life are the result of that they were truly deficient in some way or because some one just doesn't like the color of their skin. I don't have time to get into all of the problems people of color, especially African-Americans face that white people can't even comprehend.

And even when it comes to dating white people do have an advantage. While many ethnicities discourage any dating outside of their culture, they are more willing to accept a white of European descent dating their child than an African-American or Hispanic. White skin is equated around the world with the prosperity of the first world, the United States and Europe.

i remember watching something on dateline, or one of those shows about minorities having a tougher time getting jobs. There were different women's resumes online along with their names. It showed that employers were more likely to look at a caucasian application and hire them rather than another female whose named is ashanti.

When I think about the struggle for minorities in the dating world/nightlife, she might mean some family may prefer a certain race. Its sad, but some parents would not want their daughter date a "black guy." I don't really fully understand the reasons...

Perhaps she meant that there are more Caucasians, so we might have more opportunities to 'pick from'? This discounts all the people who date outside 'their' race.
Night life - People may be less suspicious of 'whites' than non-whites, especially at night? That's stupid, too - most crimes are committed by people of the same race - whites
killing or raping whites, blacks killing or raping blacks, etc.
I do think more Caucasian people have an advantage in some areas - more whites than other races are from wealthy families, and educated families, so they start life with more opportunities and attitudes. That is changing a little, but not fast enough.

No i don't agree. If something, right this moment given our governments want in direction of "minorities", White men especially have a downside, or quite, Poverty Born white men. What incredibly provides all of us an earnings is how nicely they play the sport of fulfillment. and it in order that occurs that there are extra white men that are taught the thank you to play this sport then different races and genders. so its not that different races or genders have a downside, its purely that the cultures that the common public of those races and genders are born into, are not in that social "zone" of fulfillment, and that hinders their capacity to benefit the keys to fulfillment. So its not their Race thats at a downside, its purely their place at delivery , their unlucky tide of destiny that places them at a downside. yet what provides different races and genders a fashionable-day earnings is that our government grants favors and investment to agencies that hire them and help them get a head initiate, and thats the place the actual racism starts, reason deep interior, all those agencies carry a achievable resentment of them for that reason. So I blame this fake experience of sympathy. no one can seem at Race as a capacity to dish out favors for sympathy, yet quite their social status at delivery, thats their actual project. Or we ought to purely take care of each person as equivalent and supply each person an equivalent combating threat.

well i would say that they have a unfair advantage, but not in dating adn nightlife. i would say more like in the career worlds and ivy leauge schools, elite clubs, etc. I think that for clubbing whatever you are is cool.
