I have a 1987 Iroc-z with a 350, all origonal, fully loaded down to everything. My RPO sheet says it has a posi rear, but im confused. Sometimes when I burnout, only one tire spins, then other times, both tires spin. What gives?

That set up has a clutch assy in the rear diff. The factory set this up for better traction. That is the reason sometimes both rears dont turn the same till the clutch kickes in.

The easiest way to tell is to put the car up on a lift (all tires off the ground) and try turning one wheel. If the other turns in the same direction, you have a Positraction; if they turn in opposite directions, you have a regular rear end. Hope this helps!

You could also have a bad positraction unit; they do go away fairly easily when they've been abused by burnouts and other mistreatment!

Jack your car up so that only one drive wheel is off the ground. If you can turn that wheel you do not have posi-trac.make shure you release the parking brake before trying to turn the wheel.
