Any ideas where this coin is from is it a quatar or nickel any help much apperciated ?

It is from Belgium, not France.
Here is a link to one for sale on eBay that is similar to yours.
Belgium coins are issued with reverse inscriptions in either French or Flemish, and yours could be either one.

Bear in mind that the coin pictured here is in exceptionally good condition and is worth more than normal.

It's French; the marking is for one franc. I'm not a coin collector, however, so I can't give you any idea of its value today. I'd certainly talk to a REPUTABLE collector to find out what it's worth.
