At one atmosphere of pressure helium can not be cooled to form a solid. Helium has the lowest boiling temperature of any substance. At what temperature (@1 atm) would helium be a liquid so that you could fill the Buck Rogers of the 25th Century Ray Gun?

Below are the Critical temperature and Pressure of Helium.
If either of the below conditions is not met, Helium cannot be condensed: -

-267.96°C (5.19 K) and 2.24 atm (227 kPa)

When in liquid form, the pressure can be decreased to atmospheric and the Helium will boil at its Critical Temperature.

First we look up the boiling point of helium, which is 4.22 Kelvin, according to my source.

To get Celsius from Kelvin, you subtract 273.15.
4.22 - 273.15 = -268.93
So helium boils at -268.93 Celsius, which is really 4.22 Kelvin.
