The Medicaid reimbursement of nursing homes is much lower that of other sources of payment. Nursing homes get paid two or three times as much for a Medicare or a private pay patient. Why wouldn't this provide an incentive for developing creative ways to get certain patients to die faster?

My Mum was in a nursing home where the nurse went prison for life after being charged with murder unfortunately there was only enough evidence to charge with one of the three she was trialed for Two weeks before she was caught i was at my Mums bedside being told she'd had a stroke and did not think she would make it through the night. I fed her fluids via a syringe as she was so dehydrated, i left her at 9 pm to see to my small son and went to see her the next day around 11 Am and she was sitting up in bed and had ate to puddings after her dinner so yes there are nurses carers Etc out there but the owners of the homes are the real ones who make the profit and for every bad carer or nurse there is there are the real genuine people like the young hero that reported suspicions of that nurse to the police and i had my Mum an extra five years because of her decision. who knows if this was an attempt on my Mums life but is it possible to recover from a stroke so quickly i am not a Doctor but i have my suspicions my Mum had Alzheimer's and was unable to tell me anything,

Most of the time older people are put in nursing homes for one of many reasons. The family is too busy to care for them at their home.Or it would be too expensive to hire help to stay with them while they work.Or the elderly would not want to be a burden to the family and can no longer take care of their home. Most nursing homes are well monitered and only in the movies or shows like Matlock does murders exist. Most people whom work at these homes like their job .

Perhaps, but that does not mean that people are killing others for that reason.

Many things can give someone an incentive to kill others: life insurance, wanting to end a marriage, etc. But that does not mean people often kill their parents the get the life insurance proceeds early or that most people kill their spouses rather than divorce them.

People are basically honest. Thank goodness.
