My boyfriend wants to give our child the name of some science fiction character out of a Stephen King novel or some Lord of the Rings name...

It's really terrible. He's come up with things like "Irylath, Rhayna, Raven"

Raven is the worst. I was thinking Zoe would be cute. Anyone else have issues with husbands/boyfriends/fiances having bad taste?? Im not naming my kid Obi Won Kinobi!

While my husband doesn't have bad taste, he didn't like the names I came up with for our first daughter. I do have a suggestion though. I worked with a woman whose parents were big Lord of the Rings fans and her name was Arwen. She got a lot of compliments. Try reminding him that not only will she need to learn to pronounce and spell her own name but that little kids can be really cruel.
Oh, I just remembered- we have an older dog named Caesar and if we have a boy he really wants to pass the name on to him. Ugh. Men.

I know - I'm afraid my son will name his kids:
Luke [ Skywalker ]
Logan [ Wolverine ]
Leopold [ ? ]
Lita [ WWE ]
Tell him you want a name that people can spell, and pronounce - the baby will have to endure the name, not him.
How about Sam or John Ronald Reuhl?[ Tolkein ] or
Stephen John?
