They are a farce. They are being weakly promoted to keep people from questioning the wisdom of continuing to manufacture and promote the use of traditional gas cars. In theory they use a mixture of hydrogen and gasoline and some have electric plug-in capability.
But we are at least TWO DECADES away from the hydrogen cars being a viable option for the public.
Electric cars, on the other hand, are ready now. They were being made available and DRIVEN in California from 1998-2003 until various forces intentionally undermined their development and production. The oil companies and automakers don't want to see electric cars made because it will eventually put those industries out of business.
Right now battery technology allows these cars to get 300 miles per charge. In the future, technology would improve to allow them to get 500, 700 or 1000 miles per charge.
They are cleaner for the environment. Can you imagine LA without car exhaust pollution?
They are cheaper for the consumer. FInancially speaking, the total cost of buying, maintaining and owning an electric car is like buying, maintaining and owning a gas car if gas cost 60 cents per gallon.
They could help us put the terrorists in their place. Without oil revenue from America to help fund Arab wealth, terrorists are less able to wage war against us due to a lack of income.
Electric cars are our best bet for a cleaner, safer future.

The hybrid cars today have an electric motor and a gasoline engine. You simply put it in gear and go, the car's computer figures out which engine to use based on how fast you are going, how much you are accelerating and how much charge there is in the battery.
The battery is charged automatically when ever the gasoline motor is running. The battery is also charged a little every time you slow the car. It's a neat trick that an electric motor and an electric generator are really the same thing. It's a motor when drawing power from the battery to move the cars wheels. It's a generator that is charging the battery when drawing power from the moving wheels of a car in motion. (This is called regenerative braking). This switching between motor and generator happens instantly when you take tour foot off the accelerator and the car begins to slow down.
They help the environment because they use much less gas than a regular car. The less gas burned, the better for the environment. By the way, using less gas helps you too, because gas costs money.

It is a car that runs two forms of energy, generally they are electric and gasoline powered. Because they also use electric energy for power they get much much better miles per gallon then an average vehicle.
