I have a water turtle that was taken care of by elementary school students.I don`t know what kind it is.It has a yellow stripe on both sides of it`s head and on it`s feet,and it has big webbed back feet.

Yellow belly with red patches on the neck behind the eyes? Red-ear Slider

possibly a painted turtle? im not sure, look it up on google images. if the turtle's shell is under 4 incehs wide then i wouldnt keep it because theres a high chance that it has salmonella and therefore its illegal.
