I hope that the lawyer that represented her is proud of him/her self. How did they come up with 288K for that? Doesn't anybody work for money anymore? Seems a little over the top for me.
I heard that she applied for a job with Hertz :)

It is her religion that makes her wear a head scarf. I think they were so wrong in firing her for something so small. Now getting $288,000 is a little extreme as well.

I think that the company has a dress policy that the woman was aware of at the time she was hired.
She could have NOT taken the job - that was her optional choice.
When she accepted the position, she accepted the company's terms and policy.
If she suddenly wanted to start wearing a headscarf, she was out of policy and should have been terminated.
However, if the company policy made no specific reference to headwear, then they can't legally terminate her. Guess their company policy needs some work, eh?
I know of two companies that have revised their dress code and referenced headwear by fully explaining their policy with regards to it. That's what companys are going to have to do.
One of the companys permits headress for religious purposes such as a veil, yamulke or turban. The other forbids any kind of headwear at all.

no its the companies right to control what their employees wear to work, hence dress codes that common everywhere almost, not to mention her muslim scarf may make some pretencious to use that alamo for renting cars hurting business. So alamo has full right in firing her.

I think that this country has become a lawsuit happy country, but the company was wrong to fire her. It's a little thing called the First Amendment.
And to the people that say it's not her place to say what she wants in our country: Do you know for a fact she hasn't lived in the USA for as long as you have? Or even longer? You can be Muslim and love America just as much as other people, and if you don't think so, then you're as racist as the terrorists who want the USA destroyed.
It seems to be as American as apple pie these days to be offended at something, and we seem to be embracing it.

I think it is insane. Just like the Muslim woman who wanted her DL pic to show her in a scarf with just her eyes showing. She won. We need to wake up really fast because our country is being given away at an alarming rate. All for fear of offending other cultures. Would you dream of moving to another country and making all kinds of demands??? I sure woudn't, yet they think nothing of it and get away with it. Last year my son's school was not going to have a Christmas party because 3 students in his class were Muslim and the school didn't want to offend them. Needless to say most of us parents called the school and raised hell. The end result was that they got their Christmas party. I really think it is a disgrace.
