or would you tell them the truth?
A friend told me in some cases yes he would lie, and some cases no.. If it involved death, he would lie, but other things no.. What are your opinions?

i would NOT lie
someone did that to me and i found out- i told them
" I would rather here the terrible truth, than here a lie. "

Lie is a real strong word. As a coach, I have tried to pump up one of my players perhaps be trying to elevate how the person feels, though knowing the person was a step behind the rest......I guess in a strict sense it was a lie, but I look at it as trying to keep someone motivated for the season.
I feel telling the truth is the best way of maintaining a friendship or personal relationship, since it is known I will give an honest opinion & it keeps a solid foundation with people.

Yes. It's called a white lie. White lies are not as bad as regular lies. An example of a white lie would be:
Ugly Person♥"Am I pretty?"
White Liar♥"Yess..."
If you told the truth in a situation like the one above, you'd be considered quite rude. So it's better to say a white lie than hurt a person's feelings.

I would try to be tactful but I can't lie!! One because I'm of the opinion 'if you ask me, I'm going to tell you' and two, you can tell when I'm lying!! I have to tell the truth and if people don't like it, then they wont ask me next time!

keep quite at the moment. tell the truth at the right moment. its stressfull to defend the lie thro out the life which u r bound to be caught

If it makes them feel better, and it's not harmful to anyone else I guess so.
It really just depends on the situation.

i would be very diplomatic about the way i phrase whatever it is that i have to say. if it is smth that is not important, i wont even bring it up...but if it has to be said, then i would be very kind in delievering the news
