I'm 15 and I have a 89' toyota supra turbo and I know NOTHING about cars. All lights work but the back left blinker and brake lights. The bulbs aren't out and the fuse is fine. I have no idea what's wrong and we're trying to fix it without taking it in... we just got a new clutch put in. Any ideas?

There should be a brake light switch on or near the master cylinder.
Does the left front blinker work? if so there is a break in the wire to the rear, or a bad or corroded socket in the rear, and dirty contacts on the bulb.

You don't have to know anything about cars to start on this. First, is it just the left brake light and turn signal? If it is, it is most likely a bad ground connection, possibly a broken wire. Or even a corroded socket on a 18 yr. old car. Look at the simple stuff first. You can use a test light to check this out by removing the bulb and probing the socket with a test light, and have the other end of the test cord grounded properly. The worst that can happen is you blow the fuse. Good luck

Toyota likes using relays for everything.
Look under the hood on the drivers side.
There is a power distribution box with a cover on it.
Inside is a number of relays that you may be able to mix and match to get the brake lights to work.

The turn signal is probably a bad bulb, or bad ground wire at the light it's self.

Replace the rear bulbs again with new (different) bulbs than the ones you have now and make sure you put the right part number new bulbs in. I would do this first in addition to any other suggestions above. How do you know the bulbs you installed are good? You can't tell easily just by looking at them.

My husband says to check the break switch its located just above the break petal. Now once that fixed he says you will findout that the left blinker isnt working because the bulb is out and if none of that works your too young to be driving anyhow

When you mention both indicator and brake lights not working on one side indicates to me that the plug is disconnected from the harness in the boot, have a good look around and trace where the harness from that side lights join the main harness.

Also just run a temp earth lead to a metal section on the light holder bracket, just in case you have a bad earth.
