My friend is renting from this guy who is her landlord. He has a property manager for the property. This man and the property manager told her that he wanted to visit the home once a year. He came to vissit which wasn't a big deal. But he did not tell her he wanted to take pictures in the home. When he was doing it she asked why and he said they were just for himself. She asked why didn't he atake the pictures before she moved in but he did not answer her. So she is very uncomfortable. Because it just seemed strange. He also ask a lock box on her front door and she asked the property manager to remove it six times and still no one came to remove it. So it seems weird to all of us that have been talking about this situation.
What do you think?

Why wouldn't he take pictures before move in and after move out?
Why would their be no reponse from the property manager to take the lock box off?
I agree it is the owners property and he can do what he wants but taking picutres with out asking and saying they are for him is strange.

Ten to one he has listed it with a realtor. (Lockboxes contain keys to the property, maybe it is for maintenance purposes.). There is nothing wrong with him wanting to sell his property, but it would bother me that keys to my home were hanging in a lockbox on the front door and the landlord was reluctant to disclose the reason. If there is a lease, your friend would most likely have no problem for the term of the lease. If there is no lease, the landlord possibly is afraid of losing the tenant and does not want her to start looking for a different home at this point, as the real estate market is up and down.

I have been a renter for 13 years and this seems very suspect. Some of my landlords have taken pictures prior to my moving in so they had proof of the state of the property before I took possession. No one has ever requested photo's after my things were inside and I lived there. It may not be illegal, but it's certainly creepy. If at all possible, maybe she should consider moving.

Your landlord has the right to enter upon sufficient given notice. It is his property and you are subject to his needs to protect his investments. If he is marketing the property he should disclose that it is for sale and that the pictures will be published.

The lockbox is inappropriate unless it has a good business use. You should retain a legal counsel (lawyer or realtor) for more advice.

You question is written very wierd and is apparently from 3rd party (heresay) conversations.

Sorry I can't be more clear.

Unless there was damage to the property that he was photographing - He should not be taking pictures of her things.

Sounds like he is a pervert and wants to be closer to your friend.

If I were her - I would move right away before something bad happens. I would also report this strange and wrong behavior these two perverts were doing to her.

Good luck resolving this problem...

It is his property and he can take pictures of the apartment.

If your friend finds the whole thing annoying and can't get repairs done in a timely manner, she should move.
