I love that movie. I love it because there isn't much gore and it's decent. There is a lot of suspense, which makes it a movie where your on the edge of your seat.

It was a psychological thriller and to me a good one! Your family could have been expecting another style and has yet to give the movie a REAL chance. The concept is a valid one that I applaud for it's ingenuity and hope to see more like that in the future. I have often thought about starting a hidden village somewhere and keeping it safe for my family and family's friends who wanted to do so. The idea of creating something to keep everyone in check and in one place, is not a new idea. Look at the Roman and Greek mythologies! The dragons from the days of knights in armor etc.

Hope they see it again and look at it, not as a monster movie, but as a movie with an idea that might be a good one in the long run!

tho he had some fantastic acting talent in this film, i thought it was not up to par--and i blame M Night Shaymalan (sp?).

if this had been his first Hollywood film, i would not be so hard on it. but Shaymalan had already established himself as someone who could write and direct and keep the viewer on his toes. The Village was a step backward--i found the whole thing rather lackluster and i knew exactly where this thing was going early on. it was too predictable--a waste of my money.

he was back to his form in Lady in Water, a simpler film in a way, but he does a great job telling it. if you and your family have not seen it yet, rent it.

of course people have seen the village. its M Knight Shyamalan for god's sake. lots of people have seen it!

not his best work i will admit. I figured out the plot of 3/4th's of the way thru the movie. because lets face it, every single one of his movie's has a plot twist at the end. its his signature, so you know its coming. but, it wasn't a horrible movie either. it was just ok.

(personally i think his best movie written was theSixth Sense.)

I love M. Night's movies, all of them but this one fell short of my expectations. I would rate all of his movies in the following order - regardless the film is above par by comparison to the mainsteam Hollywood offerings:

Unbreakable
The Sixth Sense
Signs
Lady In the Water
The Village

Whenever the opportunity exists - you should always check a movie out for yourself.

It's REALLY REALLY suspenceful, but its kinda gets dissapointing after a huge twist at the end. Still, one of the better thrillers that I've seen that actually kept me on the edge of my seat!

Remember that it's M Night Shyamalan. He got lucky with Sixth Sense, but he's not really of ground breaking superior quality. If you put in on level with Signs you won't be too disappointed.

Parts were ok but on the whole it was a letdown. Not really worth watching.

It was ok. I kind of regretted paying to see it in the theater. It would have been worth renting.

One of his worst movies ever. It made me not want to see anything by him again. Good idea, poorly expressed.
