My dad has written a movie script that he feels has potential. My dad has made a few phone calls to the studios with little to no success. I have read about how difficult it is to have a studio review a script. Would it be easier to publish the story instead, or is that route almost as difficult as the movie route?

Your dad probably needs an agent to get the studio's attention, then again agents almost never read scripts from someone who hasn't sold a script.

If he's got money - he might try to make an independent version of his film or a short to get regional interest.

Aside from that, he should look into the many screenwriting contests. Moviebytes.com list a lot of them.

Getting the story published won't necessarily secure his screenplay ends up being the one moved to production, plus it will really only do him some good if the right people read it. Screenwriting, and doing it well, doesn't necessarily translate to being a good literary author.

Hi ... Its just too hard to keep repeating this info. Your question gets asked about 100 times a day. Go to "Resolved Questions" here and surf through the Books and Authors questions already answered. You will find a ton of great information that will help you. Also spend some time in a bookstore in the writers section - there are many books on screenplay writing. Good luck - Pax - C.

They're both difficult. You really have to be good.
