I have a 94 sentra 1.6 i4 and the other day i went to go somewhere and went to start my car and it would not turn over. The power in the car was working but no start.I have decent knowlege of cars so i was able to count out the alternator, starter and the normal small stuff like that. I kept turining the key and the car was trying to start so i pumped the gas a it started right up. I have fuel injection so why it started does not make sense. The car does not die out all the time but it does seem to be struggleing for gas or something like that, every few seconds if u listen to my muffler you can here like a putt then it will run then putt, its odd. I have been told fuel filter, or fuel pump. I have no idea anything would help

When you say you pumped the throttle and the vehicle started on a fuel injected vehicle, the first thing that come to mind is a faulty throttle position sensor.

This little pot is normally situated on the throttle body.

The idea of it is it sends a signal to the computer telling it how much fuel is required at the injectors.

But at start up if this switch is sending a wide open throttle signal to the computer, the injectors close to avoid flooding.

But you still have fuel pump and filter, filter is easy ad inexpensive, replace it first, it should be done every 20,000 klm anyway, and try and eliminate the other possibilities.

when u turn the key just alittle, you can hear the fuel pump hum for about 2 seconds. so if u turn the key alittle and dont hear that, then its probably the fuel pump. it could also be the fuel filter, from that youll also experience bad gas mileage, also it could be the fuel injectors, one or more of them could be going bad, try a fuel additive just to see if anything changes, if not then, then take it to a shop
