optimal saftery u say. then why ist that exeperienced drivers try to avoid learners like the plague.
learner drivers, even experienced one are a constant hazard on the road.
just having that big L on top of the car is a distraction.

my instructor even tells me to give learners plenty of room as you never knwo what they might do.
apart form that, the driving technique they are taught is just dangerous. if everyone drove kike that it would tkae forever to get anywhere and there would probably be more acciddents, as it makes no allowances for varaitions in circumstances. its just so rigid and unwieldly.

to Trever..

wow motorway driving thats hard. not
i drive on duel carriageways all the time its just so easy, so boring. there's nothing to do.

so much easier than driving around narrow streets with cars park both sides and a cyclist coming towards you.

Lofty.. yeah and as soon they they finish they drive the ssame as evvryone else.

i seen so many instructors driving around on ther own, with no one else in the car and thier driving is appauling.

even my instructor made a mistake when he drove me home after a lesson. he faiked to see a car coming behind parked cars. and had to brake sharply.
so why do u expect learners to drive a particular when examiners and instructors know that its not real life driving?

To become a driving examiner you have to pass a test as well. The difference is it is more than twice the length of a normal L test, includes every manouevre, eco driving, motorway driving & arm signals. They have to demonstrate expert use of the controls & exemplary planning skills. Oh & to pass you have to get less than 6 driver faults (a normal learner can get 15 & still pass).

If the potential examiner gets through that test & is given a place on a training course then they are given a weeks driver development training to improve the standard of their already excellent driving & they are tested again at the end of that week. It's a little more involved than your billy basic L test.

The way you are meant to drive on your test is safely, something which you are not yet able to do & thats why you are not out there driving right now reversing into pedestrians & sideswiping other drivers whilst changing lanes at "confusing" junctions. Deal with it.

There is no driver that is perfect 100% of the time. But your assertion makes one critical error. Your instructor made a momentary mistake, in your opinion, but was able to safely catch it and compensate for it. In reality, that may or may not have been a mistake on the part of the other driver. But that is what experience and training does, it prepares you to turn many possible emergencies into little incidents.
I have taught many people to drive. I am not a licenced instructor, but every one of my "students" passed their first road test with flying colours because I am a detail person. Not a one of them, while learning, would have been qualified to make the judgement as to whether I made any mistakes or not. You, as a student, are not qualified to make that kind of judgement until you have a few thousand miles of safe and ticket-free driving experience.

Examiners are regularly tested by the Driving Standards Agency.

We have started testing military drivers with an on-board video camera recording the whole test.

The tests are played back to the individual after a failure and the usual comment is 'That wasn't me driving, that must be someone else'

The camera pans round in the last few seconds of the test to show the driver concerned.

You must remember that passing the driving test only means that you have reached the MINIMUM requirements to ensure that you are safe to drive on your own.

I'm a driving instructor and i can assure that we, and the examiners have to pass a much more difficult driving test than the basic one you take, and it is marked to a much higher standard than yours.
Every manoever has to be done (including a reverse to the right) and Motorway driving is included. It lasts over an hour and only 7 minor faults are allowed.

So sorry, you are wrong. If you cannot drive to the required standard you will not pass your test. It is because so many people drive like idiots that the pass standard is set high.

Not everytime, but periodically be tested. That holds true in several occupations. I am a tram driver / narrater in Yosemites Mariposa grove of giant Sequoias, taking people on a 7 mile, 75 minute narratated tour through the big trees. I like to occasionally, shed my uniform, and ride on another tram just to get some ideas how to improve my own tour, and get a feel for how my passengers see my tour.

true but it is the optimal for safey. if anything in my opinon, the test should be much, much harder. it was far too easy. passed 1st time, 0 minors but i really did take the complete piss out of them by cocking my head at every mirror on every manouveur. haha.

Wow, i see it's everybodys fault but yours that you failed your test.
What qualifies you - a mere learner - to judge that examiners need to be tested? In fact they are - to a much stricter code than you.
And so you think Motorway Driving is easy - how exactly do you know?

seems to me you have alot to learn - much of it clearly about driving. Better luck next time for your £48.50 (I passed first time)

once a month they have an assessor that sits in the back of the car so yes they do have a kind of test.
