Most vets will recommend dry food on a daily basis. Look for really good dry food though, something high protein w/o fillers such as corn, wheat meal/gluten. Make sure the food is considered human grade so as to avoid feeding your animals food that contains meat that was fed animal by-products as well as the drugs used to euthanize these animals before being processed into food. Wet food is helpful to keeping male dogs urinary tracts healthy but is only need a few times a year. We use a brand named Fromms which also has some raw food products as well. Their website will give u info on products and where to purchase @ frommfamily.com

Dry/hard for sure! It is more common for wet/soft dog food to give dogs the runs or an upset stomache.

The dogs that I've had have always had dry food. My parents dog now gets the special treat of having wet dog food in the morning. The stuff stinks so bad I've almost thrown up and it's guaranteed to make her poop within an hour.

well, it depends on what you are wanting....

The best foods for dogs in order from best to worst are:

1. Raw Diet
2. Homemade Diet (cooked food)
3. Quality Wet Dog Food
4. Quality Kibble Dog Food

Depending on what you are wanting...

If you are only willing to do wet/kibble, then look for a high quality brand. They are not sold in grocery stores/Petsmart/Petco. You will have to look online to find them, and then look for where they are sold.

Be sure there are no grains (dogs can't digest- so it is just filler) and then make sure they have protein as the first 2 ingredients... I know Evo, Nature's Variety, and a few others make this kind.

Try google:

dog + food + grain free

Good luck.

I prefer dry/hard food.
I have worked in vets offices and seen dogs who have only been on canned food loosing all their teeth by the time they are 5 years old.
All teh vets I have worked with say it isn't good to give dogs can only if you do it should be given in small amounts but dry should be given all the time.

it cheaper and better for the dog if you make the food youself. Do a little research into whats in commercial dog food, it's scary as hell!
