At 16 weeks there really isn't a for sure answer if its a boy or a girl. Its easier to tell if you are further along. By about 20 weeks is when most doctors say you can tell the difference. But I've also read many pregnancy books that say the 3 dots that you see in your ultrasound would mean its a girl. Congrats either way. I'm 30 weeks and I was told it was a girl but they aren't 100 percent. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your pregnancy as much as I have.

Looks like a girl to me (I think I see the three lines)! Since 10% of ultrasound gender determination turns out to be incorrect, though, I'd buy the crib bedding and save my receipt. I've been doing that with my boy's things JUST IN CASE, but not his bedding since it's green and could go either way!

Congrats...looks like a little lady!!!!!

Thats way to early to be sure. I would buy gender freindly bedding or MAKE SURE you keep the reciepts if you are going to shop this early. You should recieve an additional US around 24 weeks. At 16 weeks both genders look so close noone can say for sure. Wait until you are further along and have another one done. If your dr. won't do one spend about $100.00 and get a 3/4D one done just to be sure. That $100.00 may save you $100.00's in girls stuff if it's a boy! good luck.

I am having a girl and that looks very similar to her pic. You know, the three little lines. Be careful though. Nothing is 100% accurate. Just keep the receipt on the bedding. Good Luck. maybe you will be able to have another ultrasound.

No one should be telling you the gender at 16 weeks.

In the beginning stages of developement both gender's genitals look the same. As the baby grows and developes they start to form more towards what they are supposed to be. Drs or techs shouldnt tell you what you're having until 18-20 weeks and even then its not 100%. The earlier the scan, the less accurate they are.

Theres no way I would be ordering bedding at 16 weeks unless its gender neutral.

It's very hard to say.. see if it was the other way, being a boy then it would be easier to tell.. But it being said is a girl, could possibly end up being a boy.. I'd say wait until your next ultrasound to be sure/

There is no way to be 100% absolute even if you are a DR (drs are only guessers).

My husband has a friend whose wife was pregnant with twins and they were told the babies were both boys...BOTH came out girls. They had decorated for boys to the NINES...waste of money. Decorate in whites, pale greens and yellows then add blue or pink touches later.

Well, did your doctor say it was a girl? If so, it's most likely a girl, doctors can see & understand ultrasound pictures better than the common folk. To me (no expert) it looks like the arrow is pointing at 2 lips (vagina lips).

It's not too clear, but the girl parts are visible. They are the white lines that the arrow is pointing at, that from this view look like a hamburger. Those are the labia.

Wow...that always amazes me that the doctors can even give you a guess. I'm not sure what to tell you, but i do want to let you know that a friend of mine has four boys and the last two they were told thru the entire pregnancy that they were def girls! They ended up painting the nursery pink...twice!
