One of the windows updates introduced a problem with REALTEK audio. There is a fix on the MS site

Try overlaying your windows system see if that helps if not how stable is your operating system, does your windows disk have any faults on it? If you think the disk is OK try reformatting your harddrive and reinstalling the windows os, for some reason windows seems to have a problem kernels especially 32. A program you are running could have affected the windows system or a virus, spyware etc, it is very temperamental especially if you have a problem updating it.
