When you say you're going through a time of loss..do you mean you lost someone because of death? If so, you should listen to "In Loving Memory" By And Then I Turned Seven..well, they're actually called The Jamestown Story now, but I like the old name better.
If You didn't lose someone because of death, then here are some songs that I suggest,..

Is There No Truth In Beauty - Just Surrender
What We've Become - Just Surrender
This Could Be The Song That Will Change Your Heart - Kids In The Way
My Heart Beats Fast - Micah Bentley
Swimming In Lake Erie - New Atlantic
Island City - Monty Are I
These Things - Number One Gun
Goodbye Waves And Driveways - The Rocket Summer
It's Not Over - Secondhand Serenade
Awake - Secondhad Serenade

The best I think is H.I.M. "Join Me In Death" or "When Love and Death Embrace". ABC's "Valentine's Day" is a good bitter loss song. Fiona Apple's "Criminal" is a great loss guilt song. Coverdale/Page's "Don't Leave Me This Way" and "Absolution Blues" (Absolution Blues is a great "begging for forgiveness song with impressive guitar work). Neil Young's "The Needle and The Damage Done" (a great drug loss song) and "Only Love Can Break Your Heart". I personally like Poe's "Angry Johnny" with her chorus of "I wanna kill you, I wanna blow you away".....awesome!! Todd Rundgren's "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference" is a sad song of unrequieted and mis-abused love.....if you know the story of his relationship with Bebe Beull then it makes sense! Hope these help a little

I always listen to Metallica's, Fade To Black when I'm depressed. This is kinda old but Kix', Don't Close Your Eyes is about suicide and anything off of Evanescence's, Fallen cd will keep you sad for a good while.
