I have a bunch of jump rings, beads, and silver chain, some of which has been sitting in some of my plastic containers for a few months. Some of it has tarnished. What is the easiest way to clean them? Regular silver jewelry cleaner?

An easy way to clean them is by using dry baking soda. Rub them with it and they will come clean. You can use the silver dips first and then dry them and follow with the baking soda. My grandmother used to let me polish the silver this way. The dips leave a scummy surface after a while, and the soda really finishes them off nicely (especially larger items where the scum shows). Don't store any silver items near anything that contains rubber, as the sulfur tarnishes silver rapidly.

Know if it is really silver or not. If it is real silver a magnet will not stick to it.

Silver cleaner will work for real silver or CLR will do as well. Use caution when using any of them, they can cause irritation.

They have a wiping/polishing cloth out now that you can buy from a jeweler that wipes your jewelry and takes tarnish off.

by no ability use some thing like vinegar, lemon juice, bleach or cleansing soap powders. They incorporate acids which will consume away silver plate or reason pitting. I used to apply Silvo, a commercial cleanser, yet got here upon that as quickly as dry it became no longer uncomplicated to get off and you nonetheless ought to rub it that can do away with silver layers. In a bathtub coated with aluminium foil, fill it with disolved bicarb soda and heat water. merely soak the silver in it and a jiffy later your silver is magically clean and risk-free from the wear and tear of acids! mutually as no longer utilising silver, save it removed from the air in case you may, fairly in case you reside close to salt water as this would tarnish your silver with out postpone.
