theres no check engine light. its an automatic transmission. 170k miles.
when i start the car it starts idleing bad. when i start driving it
stutters when i accelerate but when i floor it the stutter disappears but when it shifts it pops into neutral and the rpms go way up until it catches the next gear. so basiacally, i would like to fix the bad idle, once the bad idles gone im sure the other problems will go away too.
i changed the fuel filter, all the spark plugs, all the spark plug wires. is it even worth me trying to fix it or would a shop be able to fix it? i dont want to pay 500 bucks to fix it because thats almost as much as i payd for it. thanks for the help.

Could be a vacuum leak in the engines intake system.

With it idleing, listen for a sucking noise where a vacuum line may have come off the engine.

Could be EGR valve too.

properly the sensor detects how plenty air is flowing to regulate how plenty gasoline to push into the device. very very nearly like an oxygen or air/gasoline ratio sensor. it shouldnt die regardless of the undeniable fact that it is no longer good for mileage to disconnect it.
