In India only a person belonging to Muslim religion can marry more then one woman but not more then 4 women according to Sharia the Muslim personal law, otherwise no other religion men can marry another woman during the life time of his wife i.e. without giving divorce to the wife, any second marriage during the first wife is illegal & invalid in law & is a punishable offence under section 494 of the Indian Penal Code as Bigamy.

In India only as per the Muslim Laws can a Man marry more than a woman and that too maximum 3 with prior permission from his previous one.
But as per the Hindu, Xtian and Special Marriage acts no!! If he dares to do so its considered Bigamy and crime!!
But if a Woman does soo - she got no problems at all, instead becomes a celibrity on headlines of the local News Dailys. Even if she commits adultry she is still "CONSIDERED VICTIM" by the society, media, Govt.
And Divorce - no way unless he wants to suicide!! Cause Divorce laws in India doesn't consider Men and his folks to be humans!!
While if a woman wishes she can easly get one and also at the same time make a huge lifetime fortune by charging her services on the bed as a PROSTITUTE in the name of Alimony!!

In India a married man can't legally marry again unless his wife is dead or he has legally divorced his wife. Indian men can divorce their wives.

I don't think so. Polygamy is considered a crime in India, I believe..but in some religions u can have more than one wife?
